Lions on Safari

Greetings after a lenghty break! Well we have just returned from another amazing Safari this time it was Lions on Safari for a change! Yes we hosted 4 Irish lads out supporting the British and Irish Lions and boy did the African bush put on her best dress. These boys brought the proverbial luck of the Irish as they witnessed some of the most memorable game sightings I have ever had the privilege of watching.

We saw lions on every game drive, we watched an amazing battle unfold between a stroppy teenage Leopard and her mother over the remain scraps of an impala carcass ,which then escalated into a battle royal between 5 hyena, all of which took place 5m from our vehicle. Then on their last evening we decided to have a braai out at one of the Waterholes near camp. We enjoyed a fabulous meal and a few glasses of wine and had just settled down around the fire to reminisce over the days events when just South of the dam a chorus of roars echoed over the peaceful bush bringing us back to reality very quickly. We were in their domain and we were the guests not them. We quickly jumped into the vehicle and headed off in search of them and found three magnificent males walking and marking their territory. We followed these magnificent males for over an hour as they patrolled their terrain and then decided that the warmth of the fire was calling us back. No sooner had we settled then we heard the distant sound of thunder. Looking into the Wintery night skies I knew there was no rain coming and waited with baited breath. Soon just beyond the light of our fire the eerie eyes of 600 buffalo's appeared as they came down to quench their thirst. As the herd piled into the water we sat and watched from the relative safety of the fire but the herd paid us no attention and we were treated to 45 minutes of the coming and gowing of this seething mass and Horns and Tails.

As the last of the herd disappeared into the darkness and the thought of our beds drew us home we sat around our now fading fire and looked up at the beautiful stars and all we could see was Open Skies!

Greetings Open Skies Followers! Well we have just returned from another amazing tour into the wilds of the Kruger. We spent a week travelling through the Southern and Central portions of the park and boy did the Game pull out all the stops. We saw great Elephant, Rhino, massive herds of buffalo and Lion everyday but the Highlight would have to be the interaction between a pack of Wild Dogs and a Pride of 7 lion. The pack of Dogs had some youngsters with them and it was amazing to watch how the Alpha Male tried to draw the attention of the Lions away from the youngsters by standing in the Road Barking at the Lions whilst the pack moved off in the opposite direction. All ended well and from what we could tell all youngsters survived the attack.

Well until next time keep well!

Website goes Live!

Greetings to you one and all! Yes we have just returned from a very fantastic Indaba down in the valley of the Zulu's in Durban and wow what a great site it was! The industry seems very buoyant and people are still coming to Africa to refresh and replenish! Lets face facts there is no better place to get away to than the African Bush...no cellphones, no email and most importantly is that wild Animals don't understand the concept of economic recession! So if you feel you are getting bogged down with all this negative talk why not come and immerse yourself in Africa to re awaken your soul!

On a very positive note we have finally gone live with our Website and a massive thank you needs to go out to Aimee-Lee Nash who painstakingly put all the love and attention into the design and development of the site! Aimee we owe you big time, thank you we love it!

Until we next chat may all the Skies above you be Open!
